by the Consulting Engineers, but with the important alteration suggested by Mr. Barry, viz.:- that the temporary Station (with one platform) should be placed on the site of Scheme 3-B (not on the site of Scheme 2-A), the disposition of the rails at the curve and crossing of Des Voeux Road being retained exactly as provided for by the Consulting Engineers if the Station had been located forthwith on the Western site (Scheme 2-A).

On the enclosed drawing the proposed scheme is shown as "2-A preliminary and temporary scheme". Its advantage over "2-A complete scheme" (proposed by the Consulting Engineers) is that it will not at present be necessary to cross Robinson Road or to occupy the resumed area marked Lot 1140 or the Crown Land to the West of it (coloured green). The whole of this Lot (1140) together with about half of lots 1141, 443, and 442 and a small bit of 618 can be leased on short lease, the rental of which will, it is hoped, cover the interest on the capital outlay, leaving only the pink areas cross-hatched in red, (or margined in brown) to be retained for Railway or road widening. If after the lapse of some years the accommodation now provided for the passenger station proves inadequate it will be open to the Government to proceed to the
